Happy March Fresh Lifers! Green is the color of the month and we are celebrating all the green favorites with some fun facts ;) 

Popular Green Veggies:

Green Kale: Kale is very high in nutrients and very low in calories, making it one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet.

Romaine Lettuce: Romaine is high in minerals, such as calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, and potassium. It’s naturally low in sodium. Plus, romaine lettuce is packed with vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate. It’s a good source of beta carotene, which converts into vitamin A in the body.

Zucchini: Zucchini’s fiber may increase insulin sensitivity and stabilize blood sugar levels, potentially reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes.

Broccoli: Broccoli is high in many vitamins and minerals, including folate, potassium, manganese, iron, and vitamins C and K1.

Popular Green Fruits:

Pears: Pears are especially rich in folate, vitamin C, copper, and potassium. They’re also a good source of polyphenol antioxidants.

Green Apples: Green Apples are a good source of several antioxidants, including quercetin, catechin, and chlorogenic acid. These plant compounds are responsible for many of apples’ benefits.

Green Grapes: Grapes are high in antioxidants, beneficial plant compounds that may protect against chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, cancer and heart disease.

Kiwi: Kiwis provide a range of antioxidants that help remove free radicals from the body. This is one way in which the fruit may help prevent cancer.
